Displayed version: October 18, 2026
This policy explains the MTL Autos commercial warranty and return process. It never reduces mandatory rights available under applicable Québec law.
1. MTL Autos commercial warranty
Unless a different term is written on the invoice, eligible parts have the following MTL Autos commercial warranty:
- 90 days, parts only; labour, diagnosis, towing and related costs are not included.
- 30 days for taxis and commercial vehicles, parts only; labour is not included.
- The period begins on the invoice purchase date.
- The commercial warranty applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable unless required by law.
2. Rights provided by law
The commercial warranty is in addition to applicable legal warranties; it does not replace them.
- In Québec, goods sold to a consumer must be fit for their ordinary purpose and last for a reasonable time, considering price, the contract and conditions of use.
- Legal warranties against latent defects and non-conformity may also apply.
- Terms such as “as is”, “no warranty”, “exchange only” or “no refunds” do not limit a consumer’s mandatory legal rights.
3. How to make a claim
To allow a prompt review, contact MTL Autos before repair, modification, disposal or destruction of the part whenever reasonably possible.
- Provide the original invoice, part number, vehicle information and a clear description of the concern.
- Keep the part in the condition it was in when the concern appeared and make it available for inspection.
- Reasonable diagnostic information may be requested when necessary to determine the cause.
- After review, MTL Autos will provide the appropriate remedy under the commercial warranty, the law and the facts of the claim.
4. Non-defective returns
A return for change of mind, ordering error, compatibility not caused by MTL Autos or another non-defect reason is not automatic.
- Return authorization is required before a part is returned.
- The part must be complete, identifiable, in the received condition and without breakage, alteration, paint, machining or installation that reduces its value.
- A handling fee of up to 25% may apply only to an authorized non-defective return when it was clearly disclosed before sale or accepted in the sale terms.
- No handling fee will be used to remove a legal remedy to which a consumer is entitled.
5. Engines
Unless the invoice states otherwise, an engine commercial warranty applies to the main assembly sold, not accessories or external items.
- Accessories, sensors, modules, seals, gaskets, fluids, belts, hoses, installation hardware and other items not expressly included on the invoice are outside the commercial warranty.
- Cooling, lubrication, fluid levels and installation procedures must be verified and meet applicable recommendations.
- Overheating, lack of lubrication, contamination, abuse or improper installation may exclude commercial warranty coverage, subject to rights provided by law.
6. Transmissions, differentials and other mechanical assemblies
Commercial coverage applies only to a verified defect in the sold assembly, subject to the invoice details.
- Seals, fluids, accessories, external modules and consequential damage are not included unless written on the invoice.
- Damage caused by non-compliant installation, abuse, a defective peripheral component or insufficient maintenance is outside the commercial warranty.
- These limits do not remove mandatory consumer rights.
7. Electronic and electrical equipment
Electronic units must be installed in a compatible, non-defective circuit.
- Where a part defect is verified, MTL Autos may offer an exchange under its commercial warranty.
- Programming, coding, compatibility, immobilizer issues, a defective circuit, damaged wiring or improper installation do not automatically establish a part defect.
- Rights provided by law remain available where required.
8. Body, tires and appearance parts
The visible condition of a used part is part of the purchase. Customers should verify photographs, descriptions and condition before installation or paint.
- Body parts correctly supplied to the order are not returnable for appearance preference, preparation, paint or fitment after alteration, installation or paint.
- Tires are sold according to their disclosed condition; no additional commercial warranty applies unless written on the invoice.
- These rules do not limit legal remedies for a defective, misdescribed or incorrectly supplied part.
9. Labour, towing and third-party repairs
MTL Autos sells parts. Unless agreed in writing, MTL Autos does not perform or cover installation labour, diagnosis, towing or repairs performed by another party.
- The repairer who performs a repair may have separate legal obligations for its work.
- This term does not limit rights that may exist against MTL Autos under applicable law.
10. Delivery, shipping and inspection
Customers should inspect a part upon delivery and before installation.
- Visible shipping damage should be reported to MTL Autos within 48 hours, with photographs where possible, to help process the issue.
- Do not discard packaging or the part before MTL Autos has had an opportunity to review the claim.
- Prompt reporting does not remove rights provided by law.
11. Commercial customers
Consumer-protection rules may not apply in the same way where a part is purchased mainly for a business, garage, fleet or commercial use.
- Written terms on the invoice, purchase order and commercial agreement apply, subject to applicable law.
- The MTL commercial warranty remains limited to the parts and period shown unless a different written term applies.
